Thapar University (TU) offers following programs for the academic year 2020-2021

M.E (2 year)

Specialization:

Eligibility: Candidate should pass B.E/B.Tech Degree exam with minimum 60% marks.

In case of SC/ST candidates, minimum marks shall be obtained 55%.

Selection Process: Valid Score in GATE.

Fees: Rs. 88,800/- Per Semester

M.Tech (2 year)

Specialization:

• Environmental Science & Technology
• Energy Technology & Management
• Chemical Engineering

Eligibility: Candidate should pass B.E/B.Tech Degree exam with minimum 60% marks.

Eligibility:

M.Sc. in Bio-Technology: Candidates should hold Bachelor’s Degree with minimum of 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks in graduation from recognized university under regular pattern of education in Physical, Biological, Agricultural, Veterinary, and Fishery Sciences, Pharmacy, Engineering Technology, 4-years BS (Physician Assistant) Course, Medicine (MBBS) or BDS.

M.Sc. in Bio-Chemistry:  Candidates should hold Bachelor’s Degree with minimum of 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks in graduation from recognized university under regular pattern of education in Chemistry or Biochemistry or Genetics or Bioinformatics or Biophysics or Biotechnology or Molecular Biology.

Candidates having Degree in MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, B. Pharm, B. Tech (Biotech) shall also be eligible for admission in M.Sc. Biochemistry program.

M.Sc.  in Chemistry:  Candidates should hold Bachelor’s Degree with minimum of 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks in graduation from recognized university under regular pattern of education, Chemistry as one of the subject at the graduation level.

M.Sc. in Mathematics and Computing, Mathematics: Candidates should hold Bachelor’s Degree with minimum of 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks in graduation from recognized university under regular pattern of education,  Mathematics is one of the subject at the graduation level.

M.Sc. in Physics: Candidates should hold Bachelor’s Degree with minimum of 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks in graduation from recognized university under regular pattern of education and Physics as one of the subject at the graduation level.

The program shall have following three specializations:

• Nuclear Science and Technology
• Modern Electronics
• Materials Technology

M.Sc. in Environmental Sciences: Candidates should hold Bachelor’s Degree with minimum of 60% (55% for SC/ST) marks in graduation from recognized university under regular pattern of education in Life Sciences, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biotechnology and Biophysics.

Selection Process: Admissions in all the M.Sc. programs shall be made on the basis of merit prepared by giving

40% weightage to 12th marks

60% weightage to Graduation marks

Fees: Rs. 62,800/- Per Semester

M.A. in Psychology (2 year)

Eligibility: Candidate should hold Bachelor's Degree in n Psychology (Honors) or Arts/ Science/ Allied Sciences such as Home Sciences/Nursing/Human Development/B.Tech of minimum 3-years duration with 50% marks  (45% for SC/ST) in aggregate and Psychology as one of the subjects at graduation level.

The program shall have following two specializations:

• Clinical Psychology
• Counseling Psychology 

Selection Process: Selection is on merit basis.

List for admissions to MA (Psychology) program shall be made by combining percentage of marks obtained at 12th and Graduation.

5% additional marks will be added for the students having honors Degree in Psychology.

MCA  (2 year)

As per the guidelines received from AICTE, duration of MCA program has been changed from 3 years to 2 years. 

Eligibility:  Hold Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 3-years duration in any discipline from a recognised university with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST) in aggregate. 

 Mathematics must be studied at 10+2 level or at graduation level.

Selection Process:  Admission will be made on the basis of merit of 10th, 12th and Graduation.

B.A (Hons) (3 year)

Eligibility: Pass 10+2 or  equivalent examination with at least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST candidates) in aggregate of any three subjects (One of the subjects must be English).

Any 3-year diploma after 10th/10+2 is also considered.

1. High school diploma (10 +2) with minimum 60% marks in total- 40% weightage

2. Written essay demonstrating English language and critical & creative writing skills -20% weightage. In this regard, if available, SAT scores will be given due consideration.

3. Group discussion - 15% weightage.

4. Personal interview - 25% weightage.

Once application form filled and payment done

You will receive  a confirmation by email regarding acceptance of your online application form.

In case candidate select the option of making payment through Demand Draft (DD), candidate has to send Demand Draft and request letter to the institute through Registered Post/Courier/Speed Post or by hand at the following address:

Candidate will get admission form through email after receiving DD of application fee.

After filling the online application form, take two printouts of the form.

If Application Fee is paid online: Candidates are not required to send the printout of applicationform but they must produce it at the time of document checking of original documents during ‘Inperson’ counselling.

If Application Fee is paid through DD: Candidates should send a printout of application form along with the DD of required amount (as mentioned in filled online Application

Form/Prospectus)drawn in favour of “Thapar Institute of Engineering & Technology” payable at Patiala, to:

All original certificates and a set of attested copies of the certificates are required to be produced at the time of document verification during ‘In- person’ counselling.
