Govind Ballabh Pant Engineering College (or GBPEC) is an autonomous institution for higher technical education run by the state government of Uttarakhand, India. It was created in 1989 to honour the Indian freedom fighter Padma Shri Govind Ballabh Pant.
The college is located in the Garhwal Himalayas, at a height of 1800 m (7000 ft.) above sea level, spread over 169 acres (0.68 km). The college has a quiet, congenial, hilly and pollution-free environment. Summer is pleasant with a maximum of 30 °C for a few weeks (around two months in a year), and for rest of the time (around ten months in the year) the weather remains cool.
Gobind Ballabh Pant Engineering College, Pauri Garhwal was established by the Government of Uttar Pradesh in 1989. It started its first academic session in 1991. The college is affiliated to Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun (Uttarakhand).It is located about 11 km from Pauri, the District headquarters and is about 33 km from Dev Prayag, a historical and pilgrimage place.
The college is financed by the Government of Uttarakhand and managed by the Board of Governors with the Minister of Technical Education, Government of Uttarakhand, as the Chairman. The Chairman is the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, since he holds the Technical Education portfolio. Know more…
