National portal on Maulana Azad to be launched

BANGALORE: To commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, independent India's first education minister, a national portal is to be launched on November 11, 2013. K Rahman Khan (Union minister of minority affairs) will launch the portal in presence of Dr Sam Pitroda (Advisor to Prime Minister), Dr Syeda Hameed (Biographer of Maulana Azad) and Wajahat Habibullah (chairperson, National Commission for Minorities).

Foreign banks’ arms can buy private banks: RBI

The Reserve Bank of India, on Wednesday, permitted wholly-owned subsidiary (WOS) of foreign banks to acquire domestic private sector banks as well as set up branches anywhere in the country. It also allowed foreign bank subsidiary to list on local stock exchanges.
