Govt to continue RGGVY programme for rural electrification

NEW DELHI: The government has decided to continue theRajiv Gandhi Grameen Vidyutikaran Yojana (RGGVY), aimed at providing electricity to all rural households.
The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) has approved the continuation of RGGVY in the current Plan period, according to an official release issued today.

Joint US-German space project launches in New Zealand

The world’s largest airborne observatory took-off from the New Zealand city of Christchurch on Wednesday on a mission to explore the southern hemisphere skies. The flight is the first of a series of southern explorations for SOFIA, the Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy, a joint project between NASA and the German Aerospace Center (DLR).

Online entrance exam for IITs, by 2014

Students are interested to take admission in IITs and all other central engineering schools may soon have to switch from pens and pencils to a computer mouse under a move to completely computerise key centrally conducted entrance tests. The HRDministry and the CBSE are scouting for a firm to audit their preparedness for the switch, top government officials confirmed and the move is backed by HRD minister MM Pallam Raju.

Bharti Airtel launched HD voice service in Africa

Bharti Airtel in the month of March 2013 launched high quality voice service for its subscribers in Kenya, Rwanda, Malawi and Nigeria in the African sub-continent.
With the launch of service Airtel becomes the third operator to launch a mobile HD voice service in Africa. Further launches will be scheduled in 2013.
