University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS) was inaugurated by the Vice President of India, Dr Zakir Hussain on the 21st Aug 1964 in the presence of Mr Chester Bowles, the then US Ambassador to India and Sri S Nijalingappa, the then CM. In 1969: Smt Indira Gandhi, the then Prime Minister, inaugurated GKVK campus on 12th July. University has two campuses at Bangalore are located on the Bangalore-Hyderabad National Highway No.7 with its Headquarters at Gandhi Krishi Vignana Kendra (popularly known as GKVK Campus) and Hebbal Campus.
