The National Institute of Science and Technology (NIST) is an engineering college located in Palur Hills, Odisha, India. It was started in 1996 by a few NRIs, some of who were native to Odisha. NIST was set up and is operated by the SM Charitable Educational Trust with the aim of promoting higher technical education. The college was the first its kind under Berhampur University, which is now affiliated to BPUT.
Since the institute's inception, over eighty percent of its graduating engineers have been placed in some of the top multi-national and Indian IT and engineering companies. The institute was tied for top spot in the 2010 Odisha Professional College Ranking survey given by the BPUT Student Association.
NIST is located in Palur Hills, about 7.4 miles (12 km) from Berhampur, in southern Odisha, India. It is well connected by roads and railways to all major cities including Bhubaneswar, capital city of Odisha. Know more…
