Minimum Requirements: The usual minimum qualification required is a 1st class four-year degree in a technical discipline (i.e., a 1st class B.E., B.Tech, or equivalent), but people holding 1st class Master's degrees in the mathematical sciences (e.g. an M.Sc. in mathematics, physics, statistics, or electronics) may also apply. Ordinarily, applications from candidates holding Master's degrees in a technical discipline (i.e. an M.E., M.Tech, or equivalent) will be preferred. Working professionals are required to either take leave for the entire duration of study or obtain a relieving order from the current employer at the time of joining the full-time Ph.D. program. Admission to the Ph.D. programme is on the basis of submitted records of prior academic work and other scholarship showing aptitude for research, letters of recommendation, and a personal interview.
