Eligibility and Selection Procedure for PhD in Indian Institute of Technology - GuwahatiFor admission to the Ph.D. programme (Regular category) under CSIR-JRF scheme in the Department of Chemistry, a candidate must satisfy one of the following criteria:
1. The candidate must have to have a valid CSIR–JRF qualification
AND
(i) Master’s degree in Chemistry/ Physics/ Mathematics/ Biosciences or in other relevant area with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% of marks.
If a final year MSc student i.e. a student have appeared in the qualifying degree examination (M.Sc.) and his/her results are awaited OR he/she is going to appear in all the subjects of his/her qualifying degree examination is also eligible to apply and sit for the selection process provided he/she has a valid CSIR certificate. If selected he/she can join the program.
Please note that, for such candidates, selections shall be provisional. And all provisionally selected candidates shall have to produce their original pass certificates and Mark Sheets of the qualifying degree examination within One Month of the selection process as per the rule of the institution, for regularization – failure to which their admissions shall stand automatically cancelled.
OR
(ii) Master’s degree in Engineering/ Technology in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% of marks.
OR
(iii) Four-year Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Technology/ Science from an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)/ Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 7.0.
OR
(iv) Four-year Bachelor’s degree in a related area in Engineering/ Technology/ Science (from other than IITs/ IISc) in a relevant
Selection Procedure: The candidates will be intimated well in advance the interview. Candidates called for interview are eligible for reimbursement of to-and-fro sleeper class railway fare or equivalent by the shortest route from the address for communication to the Institute, as per institute norms.
