• MPhil degree of a recognized University/Institution.
• In exceptional cases, those who do not have an MPhil may be considered if they have at least 2 years  research experience in reputed University/ Research institutions with research publications(s) comparable to MPhil standard. In addition, they should have obtained Masters Degree with 55% marks or equivalent FGPA in 10 point scale/comparable standard where the grading is based on system other than 10 point scale.
•  A copy of the MPhil Dissertation must be presented at the time of interview.
• Applications of candidates working in Government Departments and Public sector undertakings should be forwarded through proper channel along with a no objection certificate from the competent authority. However an advance copy may be submitted, if expecting procedural delays.

Selection process-

• Evaluation of the Research Proposal will be done by a panel of faculty members.
•  The final selection will be based on personal interview.
•  The selection committee will also consider the viability of conducting the research proposed by the candidate at CDS.
• A copy of the MPhil Dissertation must be presented at the time of interview. Those who do not bring their MPhil dissertation will not be allowed to appear for the interview.
• The selection interviews are scheduled to be held at CDS, Thiruvananthapuram on July 06 & 07, 2015

Minimum Marks –

• General- 50%
•  OBC (NCL) - 45%
•  SC/ST/PH - 40%
