Bharath University (BU) also known as Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research (BIHER) and Bharath Institute of Science and Technology (BIST), is a Deemed University and an Indian institute of higher education in Chennai, the capital of Tamil Nadu, India. It is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with the highest grade of A.
Later the following institutions of the trust were brought under the ambit of BIHER during 2004 and 2007:Institute of Science and Technology in 2003.
BIHER consists of:
- Sree Balaji College of Nursing, Chennai
- Sree Balaji College of Physiotherapy, Chennai
- Sree Balaji Medical College and Hospital(SBMCH), Chennai
- Sri Lakshmi Narayana Institute of Medical Sciences (SLIMS), Pudhucherry
The following special facilities are available on campus to promote students interest in sports and cultural events/activities.
Providing Special sponsor for the students who are participating in state level and national level tournaments.
Providing 50% sponsorship for the students who are participating in district level tournaments.
Special coaching for cricket, volley ball, basket ball.
Free yoga training has been given for the sports students.
