Exam Details

The National Entrance Screening Test or NEST is a compulsory online/computer based testfor admission to the five year Integrated MSc programme in Biology, Chemistry,Mathematics and Physics, at National Institute of Science Education and Research(NISER), Bhubaneswar and University of Mumbai – Department of Atomic Energy Centrefor Excellence in Basic Sciences (UM–DAE CEBS), Mumbai.

As per NEST 2022 Exam Pattern, the exam will be held in online mode for 3-hours. The question paper will have  230 MCQs of 1 mark each.

About NISER : NISER, established by the Department of Atomic Energy, strives to become a citadel for basic sciences and allied subjects in terms of teaching and research. Its vision includes imparting high-quality science education in a vibrant academic ambience to the bright, motivated students, by a faculty of distinguished scientists and teachers. The curriculum is amply supported by a strong visitor's program by accomplished scientists from India and abroad.

NISER offers a 5 year integrated M.Sc. program in Biological, Chemical, Mathematical and Physical sciences. NISER functions from its campus at Jatni. Degrees at NISER will be awarded by the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), a deemed-to-be University within the Department of Atomic Energy. 

There are a total of 200 seats this year, which include reserved seats for SC/ ST/ OBC/ Divyangjan candidates as per Government norms. 2 supernumerary seats are reserved for eligible candidates from J&K and Ladakh. If offered admission under the OBC-NCL category, the candidate must produce the relevant valid certificate on the date of admission.

About UM-DAE CEBS: The Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, has an autonomous Centre for Excellence in Basic Sciences in Mumbai. CEBS offers high quality teaching embedded in a vibrant post-graduate and research environment with some of the best teachers and scientists from major institutions in the city (TIFR, BARC, IIT) and the University of Mumbai and its colleges, as its faculty. The Centre is located in the Vidyanagari campus of the University of Mumbai. CEBS offers a 5 year integrated M.Sc. program in Biological, Chemical, Mathematical and Physical sciences. The degrees at CEBS are awarded by the 150-year old University of Mumbai.Tentatively, there are 57 seats this year with reservations as per government norms.2 supernumerary seats are reserved for eligible candidates from J&K and Ladakh.

Schedule

The NEST 2022 examination will be conducted at multiple centres (major towns or cities) all over India on June 18, 2022 (Saturday), 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM (first session) and 2:30 PM –6:00 PM (second session). 

Eligibility

Candidates in the Unreserved and OBC categories must have been born on or after August 01, 2002.

The age limit is relaxed by 5 years for SC/ ST/ Divyangjan candidates.

Class XII qualifying examination must have passed in either 2021 or 2022.

Candidates appearing in 2022 are also eligible. (Where only Letter Grade is given by the Board, a certificate from the Board specifying equivalent percentage marks will be required. In the absence of such a certificate the decision of the respective Admission Committees will be final.)

At least 60% marks in aggregate (or equivalent grade) in Class XII examination from any recognized Board in India. For Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) candidates and for Divyangjan candidates, the minimum requirement is 55%.

Candidate should secure a position in the NEST merit list.

Fees

The application fee for the male candidates of General and OBCcategories is Rs. 1,200/–.

Candidates need not send any document to NEST office in the entire application process.

Admit Card

Admit card: The admit card for NEST 2022 will be available for downloading from June 06, 2022.

Admit cards will NOT be dispatched to any applicant. Applicants must download their admit cards from NEST website (after login).

The download link will be available only till the day of the examination.

Score Result

NEST 2022 Result

NEST 2022 exam result will be declared on July 5, 2022. The result will be available online. Candidates should keep checking the official website for all important updates.

Steps are to be followed in order to check the result:

Login to official website using user id and password credentials.

Click on result tab ‘NEST 2022 Result’

Download the result along with answer key.

Check the cut-off score.

The scorecard will give a brief understanding about the merit list.

Based on the result and merit list the final list of candidates will be released.

This list will focus on the applicants who are selected for student counselling.
