NEW DELHI: Justice Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana, a judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, was today appointed as the next Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court.
"...The President has appointed Justice Nuthalapati Venkata Ramana, judge of the High Court of Andhra Pradesh, as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Delhi with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office," a Law Ministrystatement said here.
Justice Ramana, 56, had enrolled as an advocate in 1983 and has practiced in the Andhra Pradesh High Court, central and state administrative tribunals and the Supreme Court.
He has a specialisation in constitutional, criminal, service and inter-state river laws.
He was appointed as a permanent judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court in June 2000.
Since June, Justice Badar Durrez Ahmed has been the acting Chief Justice of the Delhi High Court.
