  • In 2005-06, 80% of Scheduled Tribes were poor, in 2015-16 this figure has reduced to 50%. In 2005-06, 60% of the Muslims were poor, now the figure has reached 31%.
  • Bihar had the highest poverty rate in 2015-16.
  • There are 196 million poor people in Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh, the four most poor states.
  • Jharkhand, Arunachal Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh and Nagaland have made considerable efforts to reduce poverty in the past few years.
  • The least poor in Kerala in 2006. Global Point - In 105 developing countries, 3 billion people live in multi-dimensional poverty, people are deprived of health, education and living standards.
