The Apollo Hospitals Group on Tuesday inked a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Rochester Medical Centre (URMC), New York, USA, for academic collaboration and patient care.
At a function to mark the Group completing 25 years of medicare, Dr. Prathap C. Reddy, chairman, Apollo Hospitals, explained that the tie-up would include sharing of expertise, clinical care and research across specialities such as emergency medicine, neurosciences, gastro-enterology, hepatology, cancer and cardiology. It also paved the way for student/faculty exchange programmes between the varsity and Apollo’s under-graduate medical college, apart from the former chipping in to design a special curriculum over and above the Medical Council of India-prescribed syllabus. URMC’s Chief Operating Officer Peter Robinson said it was the university’s most comprehensive strategic alliance so far with an Indian entity and said he believed the partnership was a win-win situation in helping deliver the best of Eastern and Western medicine to people.
Group Executive Director Sangita Reddy said Apollo facilities would remotely screen 25,000 persons in 25 days, free of cost.
