Engineering is a kind of expertise, which open the doors to many careers. Engineers work with structures, tools, chemicals, metals etc. They repair, modify and build the hardware of life by using their technical skills and scientific principles.
This subject deals with the application of scientific and engineering principles to the design and control of all aspects of fiber, textile, and apparel processes, products, and machinery. It encompasses different areas of engineering such as computer, mechanical, electrical, chemical, instrumentation, electronic and structural engineering.
A textile engineer works with textile materials- fibers, yarns, fabrics, and finishes. Most textile engineers work on product research and development, either improving current textile based products or creating new products. They may also be involved with finding uses for new fibers, yarns, fabrics, or textile finishes.
Career Prospects
Textile engineers have a wider choice to work, and greater variety of jobs opportunities in India as well as in foreign countries. In India, there are two major textile sectors- handloom sector (the unorganized one) and the mechanized sector (organized sector). These both have full growth potential. There are thousands of textiles mills all over the country.
So one who has a degree in Textile Engineering can work as :
- Process engineer
- Quality control supervisor
- Technical Services/Sales Manager
- Operations Trainee
- Process Improvement Engineer
- Medical Textiles Engineer
