The Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India has notified following two changes in the JEE pattern for 2017:

1.     There shall be no weightage for the 12th class marks in calculating the ranks in the JEE (Main) examination,

2.     For the candidates to qualify for the admission in the IITs/NITs/IIITs and such other CFTIs whose admissions are based on the JEE (Advanced)/JEE(Main) ranks, they should have secured at least 75% marks in the 12th class examination, or be in the top 20 percentile in the 12th class examination conducted by the respective Boards. For SC/ST students the qualifying marks would be 65% in the 12th class examination.

The States of Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Uttrakhand, Nagaland, Odisha & some other institutions have joined JEE (Main) system, however, their admission criteria will be notified by the concerned authorities.

Therefore, the candidates seeking admission to the institutions in these states, which were earlier admitting based on their State level examination, are also advised to fill in the JEE (Main)–2017  application form online. The Paper-1 (B. E./B. Tech.) of JEE (Main) will also be an eligibility test for the JEE (Advanced), which the candidate has to take if he/she is aspiring for admission to the undergraduate programmes offered by the IITs.

Reservation of seats:

As per Government of India rules candidates belonging to certain categories are admitted to seats

reserved for them based on relaxed criteria.These categories are:

I. Other Backward Classes (OBC) if they belong to Non Creamy Layer (NCL)

II. Scheduled Castes (SC)

III. Scheduled Tribes (ST)

IV. Persons with Disability (PwD)with 40% or more disability

Benefit of reservation for admission to NITs/IIITs and CFTIs shall be given only to those classes/castes/tribes which are in the respective central list published by the Govt of India. For admission to State Engineering colleges who have opted for admission through JEE(Main)-2017, the reservation rules of that state shall apply.The letter/e-mails regarding reservation criteria will not be entertained by JEE (Main) secretariat/CBSE.

Cities/Towns of JEE(Main)- 2017 Examination Centres:

JEE (Main) - 2017 will be conducted in major cities and towns of India as well as abroad. CLICK HERE for lists of cities .While applying, candidates must select four centre cities in case of Pen & Paper based examination and one city in case of Computer based examination.

However, if the number of candidates for Computer based examination is less than 50 in a city on a particular date than such candidates will be allotted last day of the computer based examination in the same city.

Similarly, efforts will be made to allot candidate?s city of Pen & Paper based examination as per their choice opted for in the application form. However, in some exceptional circumstances, a different city in nearby area may be allotted.

Requests for Change of Examination City/Town:

Normally, the requests for change of centre will not be entertained. In this regard, the decision of the Executive Director (JAB)will be final.

Eligibility:

Eligibility for Appearing in examination JEE MAIN 2017:

Age. Date of Birth General Candidates Born or after October 01, 1992 Scheduled Caste (SC)/Scheduled Tribe (ST)/Person with Disabilities (PwD) candidates Born on after October 01, 1987

Note- Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/University certificate will only be considered.

Qualification:

The candidates must be passed or appearing the 12th or its equivalent examination from a recognized board with PCM group with minimum 50% in core subjects. Candidates passed the qualifying exam before 2014 will not eligible to exam. Candidates, who appeared the qualifying exam in 2014 but did not pass in same year and passed in 2015, will not be eligible .

How To Apply:

Online application has to be submitted through JEE (Main) -2017 website www.jeemain.nic.in. The aspiring candidate should furnish all the details and upload scanned image of his/her photograph, signature and left hand thumb impression while filling up the ‘On-line’ Application.

Candidates are required to take a print out of the computer generated acknowledgment slip after successful submission of data and payment of fee and keep the same in the safe custody for any future reference.

Important Note: The entire application process is online, including uploading of photograph & signature and payment of fee the candidates are required NOT to send any document to JEE (Main) Secretariat.

Steps to be followed to apply online:

Step 1: Download the information bulletin and read it carefully to ensure your eligibility.

Step 2: Read the contents of Online Format and instructions for applying online given in the Information Bulletin and keep the entire information ready.

Step 3: Keep the Scanned Images of your Photograph, Signature and Left Hand Thumb Impression ready in JPG format only.

Step 4: Fill in the Online Application Form. 

Step 5: Upload Scanned Images of Photograph, Signature and Left Hand Thumb Impression.

Step 6: Pay Examination Fee by Debit/Credit card or e-challan (generated after submission of details in online application form).

Step 7: Download Acknowledgement Slip and keep the same in safe custody for future reference.

NOTE- The candidate should mention only his/her own Mobile No. and E- Mail ID while submitting the ON-line application, as all the communications will be sent to the candidates on their registered Mobile Number and E-mail ID only.

Examination Fee:By Debit/Credit Card.

Through E-challan generated after successful submission of online application form. The fee through E-challan may be deposited in any branch of Syndicate/Canara/ICICI/ HDFC Bank.
