IICD Entrance Exam is a national level exam offered by Indian Institute of Crafts and Design for admitting candidates into B. Des and M. Des program. The Exam is conducted for B. Des program and M. Des program. IICD 2023 application forms are available till 21 January 2023.

Entrance Test details for Under Graduate (UG Degree Program) and Post Graduate (PG Degree program) Professional.

Programs weightage as mentioned below:

  1. General Awareness, Creativity & Perception Test:35%
  2. Material, Color & Conceptual Test:45%
  3. Personal Interview: 20%

1. General Awareness, Creativity & Perception Test

Test is designed to judge the abilities such as estimation of sizes and proportion, observation, synthesis and visual interpretation and general awareness.

2. Material, Color & Conceptual Test

This test will assess the following abilities:

  • Intelligent use of materials,
  • conceptualization and
  • realization of a 3 dimensional form& skill of handling materials.

To observe, think and expand ideas, create solutions based on a plan and strategy.

Ability to provide multiple solutions to the given problem with written description.

Material required for Material, Color & Conceptual Test: You must bring pens, pencils (2B, 4B & 6B), scissor, scale, cello tape, paper cutter, fevi-stick, eraser, color pencils/dry pastels/water color etc.

3. Interview

To evaluate the individual personality in the prospective candidates:

  • Aptitude to crafts
  • Intelligence quotient (IQ)
  • Communication Ability
  • General Awareness about Crafts & Design
  • Overall Personal Achievements in academics and co-curricular activities.

For NRI students: The Foreign Nationals / NRI candidates seeking admission to IICD must have qualifications similar or equivalent to that required for Indian Candidates. The candidates selected under this category would need to obtain a valid residential permit or student visa for the prescribed duration of the programme and / or any other condition required as per the law of land (Government of India). The candidate must go through the process of entrance exam. In case the candidate is unable to travel to one of the centers in India, then they are required to send the following:

a. Statement of purpose

b. Portfolio or work samples to admissions@iicd.ac.in.

The candidate will have to appear for a skype interview, date will be announced shortly.

IICD Entrance test will be conducted online in three parts

PART A: Question Paper- A question paper will be emailed to the registered candidates along with the Admit Card. The candidates will be required to answer the questions in Word file/ PDF file and submit the same along with the Portfolio as per the schedule given.

PART B: Portfolio Submission- The portfolio should be a compilation of candidate’s own creative work. Sketching, painting, embroidery, photography, models, explorations with materials, creative writing, etc. may be included in the portfolio.

The criteria for evaluation will be: creative ability and skills, observations and perceptions, synthesis and visual interpretation, interest areas, etc. Specifications with regard to the portfolio submission will be conveyed through the email along with the Question Paper.

PART C: Personal Interview- The personal interview will be conducted online. The schedule for the same will be intimated through the email. Eligibility

B.Des. (4 year): Candidate should pass 10+2 exam from a recognized board of education.

Students appearing in the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply.

M.Des. (2 year): Candidate should be a Graduates from Design and Architecture background (B.Des. & B. Arch.).

Syllabus

IICD Entrance test will be conducted online in three parts

1.  To prepare for yourself  to be able to know such as estimation of sizes and proportion, observation, synthesis and visual interpretation and general awareness.

2.  Use of materials, conceptualization and realization of a 3 dimensional form & skill of handling materials. 

3. Aptitude to crafts. Intelligence quotient (IQ), Communication Ability, Awareness about Crafts & Design and Personal Achievements in academics and co-curricular activities.

Fees

Registration And Admission Process Fee

The admission process fee for Indian and SAARC Nationals is Rs. 1,750/- (Rs. One Thousand Seven Hundred Fifty only) and for NRI/ other Foreign Nationals is Rs. 3,500/- (Rs. Three Thousand Five Hundred only).

This fee is non refundable.

Fill application form.

Pay application form fee after that the applicant will receive the confirmation email with payment reference id.

If the email is not received the applicant is requested to contact to the admissions@iicd.ac.in with the bank statement / card transaction proof.

In case the uploaded documents are not as per acceptable criteria, the candidate will receive an email to resend the documents in the acceptable format, thereafter, that the application will be processed.

Photo for Uploading

  • You must use recent photo (taken in the last six months from the date of application).
  • You are easy to recognize
  • You are in focus and the only one in the picture.
  • The head-and-shoulders are in the center and in correct size, with the entire face, both eyes, and hair clearly visible; head coverings worn for religious purposes are allowed.
  • You are directly facing the camera with a neutral expression, eyes are clearly visible.
  • Background of the photo must be plain
  • Photo should be sharp without any visible pixels or printer dots. There should be no dark spots or shadows.
  • Photo must be in JPG/ JPEG.
  • The file size must be between 100 kb to 200 kb, approx. size of the photo should be 360*450 pixel.
  • Colour/ Black-and-white photos are acceptable.
  • Preview your jpg file for image quality to ensure that the image is complete and recognizable prior to uploading.
  • Scanned image should be in straight position (not skewed). If require, crop the image to remove the extra part of the image and resize it to make it visible and recognizable.

Format for Aadhar Card as Photo Identity and Address Proof

  • Aadhar Card should be clear and easy to recognize.
  • Scanned document should be in focus.
  • There should be no dark spots or shadows on the document.
  • It must be in JPG/ JPEG.
  • The file size must be between 100 kb to 200 kb. Compress the file before uploading, if it is beyond 200 kb.
  • Colour/ Black-and-white images are acceptable.
  • Preview your jpg file for image quality to ensure that the documents are complete and readable prior to uploading.
  • Scanned image should be in straight position (not skewed). If require, crop the image to remove the extra part of the image and resize it to make it visible and recognizable.

Format for Photo Identity and Address Proof for NRIs, Foreign Nationals and SAARC nationals

NRI, Foreign Nationals Including SAARC countries should upload passport document (front & back pages of the IICD Admission Prospectus 2021 53 passport) as photo identity and address proof.

Other guidelines to upload documents will be same as given  above instruction (Photo)

Format for Candidate’s Signature

  • Candidate’s signature should be in Blue/ Black colour on a white background.
  • Candidate’s signature should be clearly visible and recognizable.
  • Candidate’s signature should be in focus.
  • There should be no dark spots or shadows on the image.
  • The file size must be between 20 kb to 50kb.
  • Preview your jpg file for image quality to ensure that the image is complete and readable, prior to uploading.
  • Scanned image should be in straight position (not skewed). If require, crop the image to remove the extra part of the image and resize it to make it visible and recognizable.

Admit Card

Candidates should download their admit cards from the official website of IICD 2023.

They have to enter the ID and password to get the admit card.

IICD Entrance Exam (Part B) admit card will be available to download on the 27 January 2023 onwards.
