Career in Fire Engineering

Fire engineering (Fire Protection Engineering) is related to the development and application of scientific methods to prevent and protect people and environment from unwanted fire. This includes the application of scientific and engineering principles, based on an understanding of the phenomena and effects of fire and of reaction and behaviour of people, property and the environment as well as the impact of fire protection systems including detection, alarm and sprinkler systems.

Fire Engineering is a very dangerous profession which requires a strong sense of commitment to public service. It is the profession where engineers have to work in shifts in dangerous conditions and are at risk of burns, smoke inhalation and exposure to chemicals. They need to be patient and disciplined, quick and efficient, reliable, self-confident and able to work well in teams. They need to be aware of streets and places in their respective area of operations in their districts. They also need to know about different types of fires and how to deal with them, and about rescue methods and equipment.

For doing all this thing they need to be fighting fit and professionally trained only then they will be able to save the lives of the people with minimum threat to their own life. To do their duty in an effective manner they have to undergo special training course.
